Erin Morrison
(she/her/hers, b. 1985)
Erin Morrison’s work examines the intersections of labor, value, and ornament—how beauty, devotion, and capital intertwine across time. Using processes of casting, gilding, and relief, she transforms humble materials such as gypsum and burlap into surfaces that recall architectural ornament, historical currency, and devotional art. Her practice bridges the sacred and the everyday: gilded motifs evoke both ancient artifacts and mass-produced trinkets, revealing the tension between authenticity and artifice, labor and luxury. Through these transformations, Morrison meditates on preservation, motherhood, and the quiet politics embedded in making by hand.
Erin Morrison (b. 1985, Little Rock, AR) studied painting and sculpture and printmaking at Memphis College of Art and received her MFA from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2014.
